Blaubeuren

Sightseeing

The “Pearl of the Swabian Alb” lies near Ulm in the Blau Valley.
Very famous is the Blautopf, the most beautiful karstic spring in Germany. The funnel-shaped pool of the spring is about 21 metres deep and has an intensive blue appearance.
Beside the Blautopf lies the perfectly preserved Monastery. The choir stalls of the monastery church with the double winged gothic High Altar is one of the most important cultural monuments of the Middle Ages.
The historic old part of Blaubeuren town is regarded as one of the best preserved medieval town centres in the country.

Leisure Facilities

In Blaubeuren there is a splendidly situated open-air pool, an indoor pool with sauna, bowling alleys in some pubs, tennis courts, outdoor and indoor; there are also fine barbeque areas around Blaubeuren and its constituent villages.

Infrastructure

In the town centre you will find attractive little shops, good and varied eating places and cafés, the town library, banks, post office, chemists, doctors, and a health center including clinic. At the edge of the town, near the railway station, a large shopping centre has developed.

Where to stay

Blaubeuren and its surrounding villages offer plenty of accommodation from hotels, inns and holiday homes. Blaubeuren is also a popular destination for youth hostellers and caravaners.
